Ageism: The Hallows Eve dilemma

Certainly a highly annoying realization being that as an adult I am unable to celebrate Halloween by knocking on strangers doors asking for candy any longer. Alternatively those in their late teens and older may only opt for attending a party. As a person who still enjoys innocent fun, wonder why most people criticize me non-verbally and stare as if I am not behaving in a mature manner. Considering I don’t know anyone who hosts October 31st bashes, my evening digresses into eating candy in a pot alone watching Courage the cowardly dog and other thematically complimentary television shows via Netflix. Does anyone have advice or should I ignore this holiday indefinitely?
