U.S. versus Metric system

Marginally no one uses feet, inches, yards as units of measurement internationally. Being taught conversions in high school seemed pointless considering it had not been expected hitherto. If educators want students using meters, grams, Celsius and milliliters instead perhaps establishing said desire early on (i.e. first grade for instance, along with second languages) and incrementally dissolve the former (US system). Despite consistently using conversions in science courses, without a chart or absolute need I never use metric units and often have a difficulty imagining scale comparisons in real life situations (i.e. television shows comparing rates or sizes).
